Bear Hugs...

Things have been soooooo crazy busy - but I'm hoping to get caught up on a few things!!

I wanted to come and share a fun card (and product) with you.

A friend of mine is going through some really tough times right now, and so I wanted to do something a little special for her. Those of you that read Lauren Meader's blog know that her infamous saying is 'one day at a time' and a friend of hers got her this terrific bracelet... "A journey of 1,000 miles...begins with a single step" Well, this is totally fitting for my friend as well...so I tracked down one of these bracelets, and made her this card to go with it.

This is the Bear Hugs set from CC Designs...c'mon, have you ever SEEN cuter bears??? or bees??? I just adore Christine's images...they're too fun. Never heard of them?? Can't be. If that's the case, head on over to All That Scraps and fall in love :)

Back to the card. The images were colored with my Copics *happy sigh*. a little slit was cut in the base of the bear's hand, and a piece of wire was tucked in, and then the flower head was adhered on the top with a dimensional.

The bees?? yes, now these were fun. I wanted to make them a little more 3 dimensional, so I stamped them on CS twice, and velum CS once. I colored 1 full image of the bee, and the head of the other on the cs. On the vellum, I just went over the wings with my spica clear glitter pen. I cut out the full be, the head, and then I cute the wings out of the vellum, leaving a piece of the bee's head to use while layering (you can kind of see it from this close up). Then I just layered them up with dimensionals, and used some wire for their anntenae.

Piggy Tales has these cute little springy things that you can use to make something pop out off your card. I got some at the CKC in Hartford a few weeks ago, and this is the first thing I've used them on. The best part? The squish down, so you can still put it in an envelope if you need to. These would be great on the inside too!! Or a scrapbook page, the possibilities...
Hope you check out CC Designs, if you haven't already, and thanks for stopping by!

Mookie

So my boss is getting a dog. An American Mastiff to be exact. (Think Turner and Hooch without the drool)

Some co-workers have arranged a 'puppy-shower' for my boss' new family member, as it's their first :). Mookie will become thiers sometime mid-November, she's still with the breeders right now, but they are anxiously awaiting their bundle, or I should say brundle of joy... *wink*

What puppy isn't in need of her own Monogrammed stationary??? I mean, really??

Here's what I came up with:

Is this NOT the cutest??? I had the bone/paw print stamp for a while back (not sure of the maker) and have used it on a few projects, but this is my favorite I think.

Every girl needs a little bling too - so had to find a cute way to add a jewel...and the curl on the end of the 'M' was a perfect place! My Curlz alphabet from Just-Rite was perfect for this set...you really do need some of these font sets if you don't already have some! LOVE them!

Off to bed...5 am comes waaaay to early ;)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Purple Onion...

So - I tried out for a DT...for Purple Onion Designs. I made it to the final round, but I didn't get picked. That's ok though. I tried out. That in itself was a big step for me!

I can honestly say - I just hit a HUGE mojo block when my stamps arrived from Michele, and I just couldn't make them work....it's too bad, she's got some great images...if you get a chance, you should check them out.

Now that all is said and done, I can share some of my submissions with you.

This one was fun - a bit of sparkle, a lot of shimmer...

This next one was simple...yet I love the colors on the leaves... and a wee bit of sparkle there too

see the detail...there's the sparkle ;)

THIS one is my favorite though. I just picked up this paper at CKC Hartford...and though it was the last project I made for her - it was my absolute favorite!!!

Have you Missed me???

Well - I've got no eye candy for the moment...unless of course, you like this...

Besides trying to fight off this darn upper respiratory thing...I went to see Jason Mraz in concert on Friday Night at Radio City Music Hall. WOW. What an AMAZING show.

I absolutely love this man...not in a 'throw my panties, be the daddy of my children' way...in the 'you are a beautiful man, who has the most incredible outlook on life and love'...and sends a beautiful message of kindness and thanksgiving to his fans.

Sooooo - I went to the concert, and my oh my - if anyone like his recorded music, you MUST see him in concert. Most incredible...my soul was happy after this concert...I've never felt that way before from a concert. From "Live High" that transitioned into "Oh Happy Day" to a cover of "Build me up Buttercup"(one of my most favorite songs EVAH!) The night couldn't have been more perfect...I was with my hubby and a friend - a GREAT night.

Thanks for letting me gush about Mr. Mraz...he sure is a honey...and I'm a richer person for having his music in my life :)

Want some Gingerbread???

Sooooo, I had placed an order with All that Scraps a couple of weeks ago, and ordered what I *thought* was brown liquid applique. Well, when I got it home, turns out it was a 'velvet' paint pen...hmmmmm.....

Then I thought, well, what can I do with this?? It's not going to puff up quite like the liquid applique does, and then BOOM, it hit me. Gingerbread.

What?? Gingerbread.

Do you have Boards and Beams from PTI??? I do. And it would make the cutest little gingerbread house, don't you think??? See for yourself...

Cute, right???? The roof tiles were colored in to look like gumdrops, finished off with SU Chunky glitter...I really love how this came out.

And do you recognize the inhabitant of the home??? He's the little gingerbread man from the Holiday Treats set...is he NOT the perfect size?? really.

I made the walkway and the trees to look like more gumdrops and those jellied fruit slices...SUCH FUN I had with this card...

Here it is in it's entirety...

Everything is up on dimensionals...for a little extra oomph.

I think maybe I'll tackle a real gingerbread house with DD this year...I haven't done one since I was a kid...

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Easy Peasy...

I have a couple of birthday cards to share with you today. I work in a hospital, and budgets are always tight. We rely heavily on our volunteers, and in our department, we're very lucky to have 3 great ones. Well, two of them have birthdays this week, Dolores and Hank. To wish them a Happy Birthday, and to thank them for all of their hard work, we had a little cake for them today, and I made them some cards that we all signed.

Both of these cards took me less than 5 minutes to do (I realize Lauren has a great challenge about cards like this today, but this isn't quite her challenge...I hope to get to that later this week) None the less...super cute, and super FAST!

Here's Dolores' card:

I used the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel from SU! On Brocade Blue CS in ivory craft ink. The sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Basics...I accented the swirls with some birdal confetti from M's, and some silver stickles...I'm lovin' that touch of sparkle...here's a closer look...
fun, right?

Now onto Hank...I got this AWESOME paper from Piggy Tales over the weekend at CKC Hartford...it's from the Little Boy Blue collection. Thought it would be perfect for a 'guy card'. Now - I have a little confession to make. normally I wouldn't put bling on a guy card, BUT - in my haste to put this card together, I assembled all of my layers before realizing that I'd like to use brads on the ends of the tag die...but I really don't like for them to go all the way through the card...so I opted for bling. At least it's brown, right??

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

PS: Make sure to stop by MollyB's blog, she's Guest Designer for All That Scraps this month, and she's got some AWESOME projects with their new stamps!!! Way to go Molly!!!

The invites...

Hi everyone! Hope you had a good weekend. I spent the day yesterday SHOPPING! First with my Mom at CKC Hartford, then off to Sam's Club with the fam. So you all heard me talking about those invites forever and ever, figured I'd share them!

I didn't get to take photo's of the final bunch, but here are the ones of the prototype sent to Jamie for her approval. The only difference was we made Thomas' name in script, to set it off from the rest of the text.

The only things stamped on the card are the name on the front (PTI Trajan Monogram) and the cross inside (PTI Everyday Blessings) They weren't that hard to do, but had weird measurements 7 7/8 x 5, so a lot of measuring adn cutting...made 80, plus 80 response cards...but the mom was WAYYY happy, so that's all I can ask for!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Pink Cat Challenge - better late than never!

Sooooo, I'm FINALLY done with the invites!!! YAHOOOOOO!! What a relief! All were delivered, and well recieved tonight!

Yesterday was my 9th Wedding Anniversary, and I have a tough time with guy cards...I really had NO idea what to do, but Melissa from Pink Cat Studio posted this great sketch challenge on her blog, so I figured I'd incorporate that somehow, and here's what I came up with...

Not really MANLY, but cute, none the less. The heart between their hands is actually the balloon heart from the dress up Lily set.

That little glittery heart? If you remember the Valentine's day almost 2 years ago, when the target $1 spot had those magnetic photo frames that everyone turned into a magnetic note board...these were the magnets that came with the frame...I KNEW I'd find a use for them eventually *wink*

Melissa is also holding a contest on her blog, so be sure to go check it out and enter!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Dress up Lily & Dress up Billy (Pink Cat Studio)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Basic Black, Real Red (SU!) PTI White
Accessories: MS Border punch, glitter heart magnet, marvy scallop giga circle punch, PTI pure poppy satin ribbon, copics

MORE Good news...

Ever Hear of 'A Chemistry With Paper'? They've got some super cute sets out there...(see their link in my sidebar) Anyway - they had an anniversary contest, and picked ME to win a stampset!

I'm a happy girl...here's the link where you can see my submission:
http://www.shopacwp.com/1stancoco.html

I made 2 of these for the SCS 'non-raffle' for flood victims and this was the very first one I made...I love it, it's perfect for my largest setting on my Keurig with half and half...mmmmm...gotta run, but I'll be back later with the Pink Cat Sketch Challenge!

Thanks for Stopping by!
