Valentine's Day is coming to a close, but figured I would share a little project I made for my hubby. :)
I'm quite the lucky girl - as he is a GREAT husband and father - I often get to sleep in on the weekends after I stay up late working on projects, he fold laundry, and does dishes too...I really do have it made, I must say. We had a Christening to go to today, so he made a nice dinner for us last night, this terrific grilled seafood dish, and some pasta...it was EXCELLENT!
Here's a pic of me and the hubster at a wedding last year:
He always works hard, and doesn't splurge on much of anything - but one thing we both LOVE is coffee. He got me hooked many years ago, and that's just our thing. Every night, we get the girls to bed, and we have a cup of coffee together.
We don't usually go crazy with gifts for Valentine's day - just a little something to say I love you. His gift to me was the meal he cooked, some of the ingredients were a bit spendy -- and that's a-ok by me, as I loved it - and didn't have to cook it! I got him a gift card to Starbucks, and the girls and I made some molded candy hearts earlier in the week, so I decided to package them up together.
First - the card. This is a hybrid project, as I used elements from a couple of digital scrapbooking kits for the card and the template. I thought the cups together was a cute idea. My photo was a little dark, so when I adjusted the brightness and contrast, it's making the base layer look black, but it's a rich dark chocolate brown, called Ganache, from Couture Cardstock. The coffee cups and sentiment are from the 'Java Jive' kit by Fee Jardine and Shawna Clingerman.
Up next is my 'You've Got Mail' Template, from My Time Made Easy, by Lauren Meader. I'm stuck on using this template -- I love it. It looks so elaborate, but it's really easy to put together - and just so darn fun!! :) The patterned paper on this are from the kit, 'My Everything' by Kristin Cronin-Barrow, and the elements are the same ones from the Java Jive kit that I used on the card. I put some of the little chocolates, and his gift card inside, and up on the front of the mailbox, in that little tag, I stamped "You've got mail" from the Youv'e Got Mail stamp set from My Time Made Easy.
This was a perfect gift for him...he was even fairly impressed with the mailbox, I know this, because I caught him checking it out a little while later after he initially looked at it and opened it ;).
I hope you all spent the day with someone you love, whether it be a spouse, significant other, a good friend, a fur friend -- you get the idea ;).
Lots of {{HUGS}} all around -- thanks for stopping by!!
