It's a Pink Cat Christmas -- day 1

Hello friends!

I hope you had a great weekend!  I'm looking forward to perusing all of the JUGS challenge entries.  This weekend was beautiful here in the NE, and we have LOTS to do to prepare for a party we're hosting on Halloween, so I've been away from the computer.

Anyway -- onto business!

Pink Cat Studio will be releasing NEW STAMPS on Wednesday -- these are RUBBER, my friends -- not to be confused with the digital images Pink Cat is now offering.

I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer for this release.  Melissa has come up with THE CUTEST designs.  Here are a few projects to peak your curiosity...

This first project uses a template by Lauren Meader.  I love how easy these are to produce.  Isn't Betty all dressed up like a tree just SO sweet?  I stamped her on white CS then I used my largest Star shaped Nestability to trim her out.  I went ahead and outlined the star with my gold paint pen.  This little box is filled with DELICIOUS Lindor truffles, in red and gold to match my box.

Onto the next project...which is OH SO SPARKLY.  Here we have Betty dressed like a peppermint fairy -- I couldn't go all red and white though -- so I went more girly and heavy on the pink!  The main image was colored in with my Copics, and the trim on her hat and dress are covered in white flocking.  Her wings (which are hard to see in in this pic) are very sparkly -- I used my stardust pen and an aquapainter and gave them a nice sheen of glitter...

The pink panel is some glitter CS from DCWV.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug with my snowdots folder.  Added some fun felt snowflakes covered in bling -- and there you have it -- a very GIRLY and VERY VERY SPARKLY Holiday card.

Don't forget to check out the samples the rest of the team has cooked up, incredible, no doubt.

Just Us Girls!

Well HEEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO out there :)

I'm here today to talk about the 'Just Us Girls' challenges.

The first challenge was last week -- a sketch.  Each week a different team member will host a challenge, and this week, Pam is the host on the 'Just Us Girls' blog, and here's the Challenge:

The 'girls' asked me to be a part of their team, and I'm proud to play along side this talented group of women.

Here's my card for this week's challenge:

The image and sentiments are from a set called 'Girls Night Out' by My Favorite Things.  Kim's sets are GREAT for paper piecing.  I used a few of the sentiments to make a patterned paper for the Berry Sorbet layer.  punched the bottom edge with my apron lace border punch, added some ribbon and a charm, and voila!  Cute and simple (well, except for the cutting for the paper piecing!)

Be sure to check out the challenge blog -- there's lots of info there, including a schedule of upcoming challenges, links to the rest of the team, the Mr. Linky to link YOUR projects (use keyword JUGS2) and a CAH-UTE blinkie to grab for your blog too!

Looking forward to seeing what YOU create!

Gobble Gobble!

Good Morning my friends!

Hoping you're all off to the start of a beautiful day.  It's Thursday, which means it is a Pink Cat Studio Digital release!  YIPPEEE!

Melissa has given us some SUPER cute images to work with this week, you will NOT be disappointed!

There are a total of 7 images being released today, though only 5 are pictured here.  Head on over to the store to check out the rest!

I love Thanksgiving.  One of my favorite holidays I think.  A time to reflect, and boy, do I have a LOT to be thankful for.

My first card features Betty with a yummy pie -- perhaps presenting it to her next door neighbor.   I used some digi papers from a kit called "Fall Flavors", by Lliella designs.  I have more plans for miss Betty, I think... ;).

This next card is supposed to depict my family.  There's DH all the way to the left, then me, then my 2 girls...I think I've experienced the 'death' of a Copic marker.  I need a refill, STAT!  Lol.  So the 'younger' turkeys are a little darker than us other, old birds, ha ha ha.

Except for the base layer, this was all digital, sentiment as well.  This digital paper is from a kit called "Falling for You" by J. Billingsley.  I hope you like what you've seen today -- be sure to stop by the rest of the team's blogs, and what they've been up to, and then GO SHOP.  Talk about instant gratification -- I love that most about digital images...POOF!  There they are - print and create!

That about does it for me today -- Thanks for stopping by!

Mexico & India...

I got to complete a few more of the PTI World Card Making Day challenges...just one more to go -- maybe tonight!

I actually made up my 'India' card the other night, but am just getting a chance to post.

I think the thing that catches my eye most about Indian art & textiles are the right bright colors, and infusing it with a lot of gold and jewels.

So -- that is what I decided to do (however I've realized I need to get new gold EP -- mine is looking a bit dull these days!)

Here's my 'India' inspired card:

I started out using my Basic Backgrounds Retro set, and I randomly placed some raspberry jewels I had in my stash and used my (now tarnished) gold EP.  I cut a piece of Gold CS with my Labels 8 Nesties, and stamped the sentiment and placed the raspberry heart...but it needed something more, so I stamped the flourish, and added some gold 'beads'.  In retrospect, I would stamp the sentiment in a different color, as it looked nice while the ink was still wet, but a little too light once dry.

Then we move on to Mexico --

DH and I honeymooned there in 1999.  We had a MAGNIFICENT time, and loved every minute of it.

I used the first PTI Anniversary set, Beyond Basics, to make my patterned paper, and the spritzed it with some so saffron and summer sun inks.  I used some enchanted evening ribbon, and placed the sentiment on a die cut from the Labels 9 set.  I went around the embossed border with my gold paint pen.  I think this could qualify for the ever-elusive "Guy card" :).

Thanks for stopping by today -- hope you have a super day!!

Alright -- so I DID get to play today!

YIPEE -- My 2 year old took a nice nap, and the 5 year old is busy playing...so I got to play too!

I decided to play along with Papertrey's challenges today -- I couldn't resist the first one, as soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do.  The challenge is a Japanese influence on your project.  Out on a Limb is one of my most FAVORITE PTI sets, and it hasn't seen ink in quite some time.

So I dusted it off, and got to work.  I went out and found a "Japanese Font" for free on the internet -- so I hope it is accurate, and that I'm not offending the Japanese culture here, LOL.  It says "Happy Birthday" down the side.  I kept my project to 3 simple colors, black, red and white.

I put my branches and flowers, and thought about leaving it, but decided to make some paper lanterns.  I stamped a piece of white CS with the branch and flowers images, and then ran it through my crimper (which I haven't used in about 3 years or more, LOL) then I punched out some circles (1" and 3/4") and used pop dots to adhere them to my card front.  Finished off the flower centers with some stickles.

I'm glad I got to play along -- I hope I get time to do all of the challenges...they're great!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy World Card Making Day!!

Hi friends!

Hope you get to play on World Card Making Day!!

I actually made this the other night -- as I anticipated that I likely WON'T get to play today...*insert sad face here*.  BUT - thought the day SHOULD be honored.

I needed to make a card for a colleague for the arrival of his newborn son.  I am just LOVING these Labels 8 Nestabilities dies.  I used Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Basics for the background, used Versamark and clear embossing powder -- love that look.  Then used the polka dot star and sentiment from Star Prints, and that fun flourish from Fancy Flourishes to complete my project.  I used Chocolate Brilliance Ink for my flourish and sentiment.

So - what are YOU working on for world card making day???

There are some great challenges going on out there to do today -- including one being hosted by my friend Kristin, and some of the girls from the 'My Time to Create Challenge Team'...it's the 'Just Us Girls Challenge' check it out here:
