JUGS 5 - Wild Card Challenge!

Hey Friends~

Well, today is the day of the big birthday party for my kiddos.  The bouncy house got put up for a bit yesterday -- they had a BLAST jumping around in there...the weather even improved for today - YEAH!

Well, though today is Halloween - I've got a Christmassy post for you today.

Kristin is our JUGS Challenge host this week. The idea for her challenge came from former team mate Alicia, and she agreed to let us go and run with it.

Photobucket
We want you to create a holiday card that incorporated a photo -- whether it be from a magazine, or your own family/pets, put a picture on it (or in it, as the case may be!)

Here's my version:

I LOVE this picture I took of my girls last month.  This used the sentiment from Kristin's "Gift with Participation" for this week, and an image from PTI's Home for the Holidays.  Then I added a little ribbon to the bottom.  I just cut my frame out, and attached my photo from behind...and then I covered the inside with CS (should have taken a photo, sorry!) to keep it looking neat.

Hope you get to play along this week - be sure to use the keyword JUGS5 on your projects, and link to the Mr. Linky on the challenge blog.

Be sure to show the DT girls some love too, k?  Thanks for stopping by!!

Running out of time...

Hi friends!

Just a quick post today, I'm rapidly running out of time preparing for the girls' party AND Halloween...why oh WHY did I decide to do this?!?!?!?

Anyway -- let's get down to business, shall we?

Pink Cat Studio Digi Release today!

Melissa has some really cute images for Hannukah releasing today, in addition to some more wintery themed images...take a look-see:

Cute, right?  I knew you would think so...I had wanted to use a few of these images to make some cards, but have run out of time (and quickly losing my mind as well!) but I do have one to share with you today...

This cute Hanukkah card -- love those little birds.  I originally had something different in my head, but it didn't translate well...for the sentiment (check out the FREE sentiment page!) I punched it out with my word window punch, but it needed something else to get it to stand out a little more.  I used one of the smaller nestabilities to mount it on, but to make it a little smaller, I cut a section out of the middle, and glued the pieces together on theback of the sentiment before adhering to the card front.

If you haven't already, be sure to head over to THIS POST to play along with the Bio Betty contest!  The contest ends on Nov. 5th!   One last thing -- be sure to check out the rest of the team's creations for this release -- I'm so lucky to work with such talented ladies!!

Thanks for stopping by, I'll be back briefly on Saturday for this week's JUGS challenge, be sure to stop by and play along!!

Pretty Paper Flowers...

HHHeeeeeellllllooooooooooo out there!

Welcome to the weekend!  Yahoo!

It's Saturday - so it's time for another 'Just Us Girls Challenge'.  This week's 3-D challenge comes from my team mate Mona Pendleton.

Here's her challenge:

JUGS4
You MUST see her video -- she makes it look so effortless, and what a nice job she did on the video itself, definitely worth it to watch!

I don't have any of the Nestabilities blossom dies, I only have the old "Nesting Flowers" one, and it worked ok, but I would much rather use the ones with more 'layers' in between, I think.

I brayered my tissue with 3 different colors - Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, and Berry Sorbet.

Cut out the various sizes with my nestabilities, and got to work.

I can't decide what it is, but something isn't sitting right with me -- if you have any suggestions, let me know, ok??

Be sure to check out the rest of the team's projects today -- they are no doubt, terrific!

Thanks so much for stopping by - hope that YOU will play along with us, can't wait to see your flowers!!!  You could be the next Chic of the Week!~  A BIG CONGRATS to Gwen Snater!!  Gwen is our Chic of the Week for the JUGS 3 challenge!

Be sure when uploading to use the keyword JUGS4, and link up your project to the Mr. Linky on the challenge blog!!

Have a super day -- we've got some early Halloween events planned for the weekend -- should be fun!

Warm Winter Wishes...

Happy Thursday Friends!

I can't BELIEVE it's Thursday already...the week just FLEW by!! Wow.

Anyway -- it's Thursday, which means -- you guessed it -- Pink Cat Studio Digital release day!  YIPPPEEE

Melissa is releasing 3 new images today -- take a peek

I chose to highlight that super adorable little girl.  Doesn't she look so cozy?? :).  I colored her in with my Copics, and used my colorless blender to add the 'dots' to her hat and scarf, adds a little texture, I think.

Used my new Martha Stewart snowflake punch to highlight my sentiment.  The blue CS was cut with my Creative Memories wavy cutter (well, I have the old fashioned template with one straight side, one wavy side...totally old skool -- LOL ) and the image itself was cut with my Nesties Labels 8 dies -- mmm LOVE them!

Soooooo, are you NOT yet convinced to give digital stamps a shot??  Melissa is offering up a FREE image for you to try -- c'mon...it's FREE - what have you got to lose???  Melissa has even created an informative tutorial to show you how easy it is to download and print digital stamps. In the tutorial there is a free digi stamp that you can download and try out.

Here is a link to the tutorial if you would like to give it a try: Test It Out!

c'moonnnnn, you know you want to ;).

OH! and GUESS WHAT?!?!  YOU have a chance to get in on all the action...yes, you heard me.  Melissa is starting a new contest...the 'Digi Idea Contest'

To enter the contest, leave a comment on Melissa's release post and suggest an idea for a new digi stamp. Each week she will select an idea and turn it into a digi stamp. The person who made the suggestion will receive the new digi for free in advance of the release and will be invited to create a card with it to be displayed on her blog during the new release.

So what are you waiting for???  Go watch the tutorial, comment on Melissa's release post, and of COURSE -- stop by the rest of the team's blogs to see what they've been working on this week!  Oh - and it looks like Lauren Meader joined us this week too!

I Just LOVE These Colors...

So I FINALLY had gotten around to buying the new 'In Color' colors from SU!.  Originally I was going to get them all, and then I narrowed it down to just 2.

Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay are just YUMMMMMMMY!

I needed a card for one of my daughter's friends.  Now that she's going to 2 different schools, she has twice as many birthday partites than usual -- and those of you that know me already, know that we already have A LOT OF BIRTHDAYS! lol.  We certainly can't keep up and attend them all, that's for sure!

Anyway -- moving on...

I pulled out my pretty new papers, and got to work.

I decided to go with some Papertrey goodness this time around, since I've really been on a Pink Cat kick as of late (not that that is a bad thing ;) ) but I think my PTI stamps were feeling a little neglected.

So, I used Star Prints, Background Basics Retro, and Polka Dot Basics for this card.

This was for last week's party...I'll have this week's party card up this week sometime.  Would you believe, I was going to use the owls on a unicycle card I made the other day, and DD smiled and shook her head, and said "oh, no no no Mommy -- I can't use that card.  It's orange.  Ty has to have green."  GREAT.  I'm getting shot down by my 5 year old!  Well, off to stampland I went, and came up with something that got a 'two thumbs up' approval...

Thanks for stopping by today -- have a great one!

Supplies:
Stamps (all Papertrey Ink): Star Prints, Background Basics Retro, Polka Dot Basics
Ink (All SU!): Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Select White (PTI), Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay (SU!)
Accessories: Apron Lace Border Punch (fiskars), bermuda bay polka dot grosgrain, star punch (SU!)

JUGS 3 - Color Challenge!

Happy Saturday!

Hello all~

It's been a crazy few days here-- I've been sick, and I hurt my neck...it was just NOT my week.  One last time, I'd like to thank all those that came out to support me for the contest over at Splitcoaststampers.  Patty seems like a real great gal - and I'm happy for her, she put a lot of time and effort into her submission - so a big congratulations to her!!

Also -- a big congrats to Broni Holcombe, our second "Chic of the Week"!  I loved your creation!!

This week's JUGS challenge is a color challenge hosted by Dana Gustafson.  Here's our palette:

I kept things simple -- I needed a card for a friend who got some unexpected news this week.  Nothing bad, just a little overwhelming maybe.  I thought this sentiment from Scattered Showers was perfect.

Dawn's sets always have such cute and different sentiments -- love it.  I really need to get the 'additions' set.  I added some sparkle to the circles on the umbrella -- I took a closer shot, so you could see a little better...

The circles on the bottom mimic the circles on the umbrella -- they are from Polka Dot Basics I from PTI.

We have a busy day ahead of us, so I won't be checking in until much later -- gives you all enough time to create something FABULOUS for me to look at tonight ;).

Hope you all get to play along with us this week!  Be sure to use the keyword JUGS3 on your uploads, and link you creation to the Mr. Linky on the challenge blog.

The other girls on the team have cooked up something fabulous as well -- be sure to show them some love!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Supplies - all Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted:

Stamps: Rain or Shine, Polka Dot Basics I
Ink: Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy
Paper: Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream
Accessories: Pure Poppy Stitched Grosgrain, spica glitter pen

Pink Cat Digi Day!!

Hello friends!

It's time for another digi image release from Pink Cat - YAHOO!  It's so much fun seeing what Melissa will be cooking up next, and today is sure to please.

She came up with some new, ADORABLE owls to play with -- check them out!

And-- there's a dinosaur Bobby too - OMWord they're all just too cute.

I chose to use a few of the owl images for my projects today -- let's see them, shall we??

Here's my first card, still stuck on Christmas.

The snowflakes I stamped are from Lily and Biller Winter stamps -- just a lot of fun -- oooooh, see that sentiment?  Check it out, Melissa is adding a page to the digi store to get these sentiments...for FREE!  yep - Pink Cat Style, for FREE.  Yay!

This card has a LOT of sparkle -- there's a TON of stickles along the bottom, and the tree is all blinged up for the holidays.

Can you believe it was SNOWING here yesterday??  CRAZY.  It's a little too early for snow, for my liking, anyway -- but I could smell it in the air, I knew it was coming.  Nothing to make the roads hazardous, thank goodness, just the 'pretty' kind that doesn't make a mess :)

Here's my other creation:

Now THAT'S bright -- but I ♥ it.  These fun loving clowns on a unicycle is one of my favorite images from this release -- and LOOK -- I've broken out of the box, and started coloring my animals in different colors!  This was a big step for me...lol.

Head on over to the Pink Cat Digi Store to get YOUR new images today.  Send me a link, I'd love to see what you make!

I just want to take a quick minute and thank those of you out there that have shown your support for me over on SCS -- it means a great deal, and though it looks like I'm not going to win - I'm honored that there were so many of you out there that cast your vote for me....so THANK YOU!!!

Be sure to stop by the rest of the Digi Team's blogs to check out what they've made with these GREAT images!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pink Cat Christmas Peeks Day 2!

WHEW!  Sorry I'm Late!
We're on to day 2 of peeks for the Pink Cat Release -- these images are BEYOND cute.  Today we have 2 more, one of Betty and Bobby on a Candy Cane being carried by little Gingerbread men.  I decided I wanted to make a gift tag -- so I trimmed my card stock to make a 3.5" x 3.5" card.  I stamped on Kraft CS, and got coloring.  I added some gold bling on Betty and Bobby, and the sentiment too -- and added some gold cord to attach it to my gift.
My next card is my favorite.  I looked at this fun image of Bobby dressed up like a gingerbread man, and saw my Nesties Labels 8 dies, and thought....Hmmmm...that shape would make a cool platter...So the platter of Bobby cookies was born!  I cut the CS just inside the fold using the largest die, and then used the next one smaller to emboss, and make the inner 'ridge' of the platter.

The 'cookies' were all colored with my copics, and 'dressed up' with some liquid applique, and crystal effects.  I even made the sentiment to look like a cookie with icing.

One last thing -- I don't know if you all saw my second post from yesterday about me being a finalist to win the Scrapbox from Splitcoaststampers.  I wasn't going to advertise this, because I wanted to do something special for a dear friend, but have decided that I should just make my intentions known.
My friend Laura (okiechic) on SCS is SO deserving of this AWESOME prize, and I was floored when I was chosen as a finalist, and she wasn't.  My intention is to have SCS send HER the scrapbox if I should win.

She is an INCREDIBLE Mom, and does such great things for her boys -- not to mention that I just ADORE her husband, one of the USMC's finest.  She's made lots of sacrifices for her husband's career, including moving to muggy Michigan, when she loved living in the desert ;).  Besides, now where ever they move with the Military, she'll ALWAYS have a place to create.  She's a real special gal, and I would LOVE if I could be given the opportunity to GIVE her this incredible gift.  She gives everyone else SO MUCH MORE, just by being her.

So , what so you say??  Before you go hop on over to the other Pink Cat blogs -- Stop by SCS and give Laura (through me) your vote???  Pretty Please?  I'm not a pretty beggar...you don't want to see me cry, do you? ;).

Thanks friends -- I appreciate the support!!!

we interrupt this program...

OH MY WORD!!!

Splitcoaststampers is hosting a contest to give away a Scrapbox -- have you guys SEEN these things???  OH MY GOODNESS they are amazing!

Well -- the rules were to explain why you NEED the scrapbox -- and I felt kind of funny about it.  So I 'broke the rules' and made a post...and get this...

THEY PICKED ME AS A FINALIST!!!

Now -- I have VERY special plans for this said scrapbox if I were to win it (read my entry thread) -- so if you are a member at SCS (and YOU aren't another finalist, LOL) PLEASE vote for me???  Pretty PLEASE?!?!?!

here's the thread to vote -- with links to the finalists: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=463494

I'm still in a state of disbelief -- this would be over the top SO cool, if I could so what I want to do!!  Thanks for your help!!!!

It's a Pink Cat Christmas -- day 1

Hello friends!

I hope you had a great weekend!  I'm looking forward to perusing all of the JUGS challenge entries.  This weekend was beautiful here in the NE, and we have LOTS to do to prepare for a party we're hosting on Halloween, so I've been away from the computer.

Anyway -- onto business!

Pink Cat Studio will be releasing NEW STAMPS on Wednesday -- these are RUBBER, my friends -- not to be confused with the digital images Pink Cat is now offering.

I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer for this release.  Melissa has come up with THE CUTEST designs.  Here are a few projects to peak your curiosity...

This first project uses a template by Lauren Meader.  I love how easy these are to produce.  Isn't Betty all dressed up like a tree just SO sweet?  I stamped her on white CS then I used my largest Star shaped Nestability to trim her out.  I went ahead and outlined the star with my gold paint pen.  This little box is filled with DELICIOUS Lindor truffles, in red and gold to match my box.

Onto the next project...which is OH SO SPARKLY.  Here we have Betty dressed like a peppermint fairy -- I couldn't go all red and white though -- so I went more girly and heavy on the pink!  The main image was colored in with my Copics, and the trim on her hat and dress are covered in white flocking.  Her wings (which are hard to see in in this pic) are very sparkly -- I used my stardust pen and an aquapainter and gave them a nice sheen of glitter...

The pink panel is some glitter CS from DCWV.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug with my snowdots folder.  Added some fun felt snowflakes covered in bling -- and there you have it -- a very GIRLY and VERY VERY SPARKLY Holiday card.

Don't forget to check out the samples the rest of the team has cooked up, incredible, no doubt.

Just Us Girls!

Well HEEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO out there :)

I'm here today to talk about the 'Just Us Girls' challenges.

The first challenge was last week -- a sketch.  Each week a different team member will host a challenge, and this week, Pam is the host on the 'Just Us Girls' blog, and here's the Challenge:

The 'girls' asked me to be a part of their team, and I'm proud to play along side this talented group of women.

Here's my card for this week's challenge:

The image and sentiments are from a set called 'Girls Night Out' by My Favorite Things.  Kim's sets are GREAT for paper piecing.  I used a few of the sentiments to make a patterned paper for the Berry Sorbet layer.  punched the bottom edge with my apron lace border punch, added some ribbon and a charm, and voila!  Cute and simple (well, except for the cutting for the paper piecing!)

Be sure to check out the challenge blog -- there's lots of info there, including a schedule of upcoming challenges, links to the rest of the team, the Mr. Linky to link YOUR projects (use keyword JUGS2) and a CAH-UTE blinkie to grab for your blog too!

Looking forward to seeing what YOU create!

Gobble Gobble!

Good Morning my friends!

Hoping you're all off to the start of a beautiful day.  It's Thursday, which means it is a Pink Cat Studio Digital release!  YIPPEEE!

Melissa has given us some SUPER cute images to work with this week, you will NOT be disappointed!

There are a total of 7 images being released today, though only 5 are pictured here.  Head on over to the store to check out the rest!

I love Thanksgiving.  One of my favorite holidays I think.  A time to reflect, and boy, do I have a LOT to be thankful for.

My first card features Betty with a yummy pie -- perhaps presenting it to her next door neighbor.   I used some digi papers from a kit called "Fall Flavors", by Lliella designs.  I have more plans for miss Betty, I think... ;).

This next card is supposed to depict my family.  There's DH all the way to the left, then me, then my 2 girls...I think I've experienced the 'death' of a Copic marker.  I need a refill, STAT!  Lol.  So the 'younger' turkeys are a little darker than us other, old birds, ha ha ha.

Except for the base layer, this was all digital, sentiment as well.  This digital paper is from a kit called "Falling for You" by J. Billingsley.  I hope you like what you've seen today -- be sure to stop by the rest of the team's blogs, and what they've been up to, and then GO SHOP.  Talk about instant gratification -- I love that most about digital images...POOF!  There they are - print and create!

That about does it for me today -- Thanks for stopping by!

Mexico & India...

I got to complete a few more of the PTI World Card Making Day challenges...just one more to go -- maybe tonight!

I actually made up my 'India' card the other night, but am just getting a chance to post.

I think the thing that catches my eye most about Indian art & textiles are the right bright colors, and infusing it with a lot of gold and jewels.

So -- that is what I decided to do (however I've realized I need to get new gold EP -- mine is looking a bit dull these days!)

Here's my 'India' inspired card:

I started out using my Basic Backgrounds Retro set, and I randomly placed some raspberry jewels I had in my stash and used my (now tarnished) gold EP.  I cut a piece of Gold CS with my Labels 8 Nesties, and stamped the sentiment and placed the raspberry heart...but it needed something more, so I stamped the flourish, and added some gold 'beads'.  In retrospect, I would stamp the sentiment in a different color, as it looked nice while the ink was still wet, but a little too light once dry.

Then we move on to Mexico --

DH and I honeymooned there in 1999.  We had a MAGNIFICENT time, and loved every minute of it.

I used the first PTI Anniversary set, Beyond Basics, to make my patterned paper, and the spritzed it with some so saffron and summer sun inks.  I used some enchanted evening ribbon, and placed the sentiment on a die cut from the Labels 9 set.  I went around the embossed border with my gold paint pen.  I think this could qualify for the ever-elusive "Guy card" :).

Thanks for stopping by today -- hope you have a super day!!

October 3, 2009

Alright -- so I DID get to play today!

YIPEE -- My 2 year old took a nice nap, and the 5 year old is busy playing...so I got to play too!

I decided to play along with Papertrey's challenges today -- I couldn't resist the first one, as soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do.  The challenge is a Japanese influence on your project.  Out on a Limb is one of my most FAVORITE PTI sets, and it hasn't seen ink in quite some time.

So I dusted it off, and got to work.  I went out and found a "Japanese Font" for free on the internet -- so I hope it is accurate, and that I'm not offending the Japanese culture here, LOL.  It says "Happy Birthday" down the side.  I kept my project to 3 simple colors, black, red and white.

I put my branches and flowers, and thought about leaving it, but decided to make some paper lanterns.  I stamped a piece of white CS with the branch and flowers images, and then ran it through my crimper (which I haven't used in about 3 years or more, LOL) then I punched out some circles (1" and 3/4") and used pop dots to adhere them to my card front.  Finished off the flower centers with some stickles.

I'm glad I got to play along -- I hope I get time to do all of the challenges...they're great!

Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies:
Stamps:  Out on a Limb Revised, Mixed Messages
Ink: Palette Black, Pure Poppy, Fresh snow
Paper: Select white, true black, pure poppy
Accessories: Punches, dimensionals

Happy World Card Making Day!!

Hi friends!

Hope you get to play on World Card Making Day!!

I actually made this the other night -- as I anticipated that I likely WON'T get to play today...*insert sad face here*.  BUT - thought the day SHOULD be honored.

I needed to make a card for a colleague for the arrival of his newborn son.  I am just LOVING these Labels 8 Nestabilities dies.  I used Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Basics for the background, used Versamark and clear embossing powder -- love that look.  Then used the polka dot star and sentiment from Star Prints, and that fun flourish from Fancy Flourishes to complete my project.  I used Chocolate Brilliance Ink for my flourish and sentiment.

So - what are YOU working on for world card making day???

There are some great challenges going on out there to do today -- including one being hosted by my friend Kristin, and some of the girls from the 'My Time to Create Challenge Team'...it's the 'Just Us Girls Challenge' check it out here:
JUGS1 Challenge

also, Dawn McVey has a Raspberry Suite Color Challenge going on right now with some YUMMY colors...check that out here:

Thanks for stopping by today!

GREAT News!!

Hello friends --

Exciting news to share today -- Melissa from Pink Cat Studio has chosen lil' ol' me to be on her digital stamp design team.  YIPPEEE!  It all happened so fast, lol.

You'll be seeing LOTS of Pink Cat around, as October is also my release as guest designer for the rubber line of stamps!  Happy girl here :).

Anyway -- there's lots of great talent -- and you'll see some of my team mates from Lauren's challenge team have also made the Pink Cat Team *waving hello to Alicia and Mackenzie*.

Very excited to be a part of this great team chock FULL of talent.

Melissa is releasing 3 mew images today, they can be purchased here.

Are they not the CUTEST?  I've got a little card to share with you too.  I didn't have a lot of time, but wanted to have something made for the announcement!

This is mostly digi, using papers and elements from a digi kit 'Happiness' by Liella Designs.  I colored in Betty with my Copics, and added some sparkle and pearls...

be sure to hop around, and congratulate the rest of the team, here are links to their blogs:

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!  Thanks for stopping by!
